women & war

Samantha Giron, a Los Angeles based Choreographer and founder of the Samantha Giron Dance Project, invited me to collaborate on a video for her latest piece of choreography called Interrogations. The show, Women And War, includes pieces from choreographers living in LA and San Francisco including: Sri Susilowati, Vox Dance Theater, Mary Armentrout Dance Theater, lean to productions, Rebecca Pappas, & Samantha Giron Dance Project.



The representation of war in our culture is usually focused on men;
men play the centrally-depicted, heroic roles of killing, being
killed, being captured and tortured. Physical bravery is shown as a
male trait. Women and War portrays untold stories of women's
participation in war that contradict these common notions. Women and War includes work about a female soldier, a female prisoner of war, and a fable of a man who became a woman to avoid battle.

The show runs tonight and tommorow. That's March 21-22 at 8:30pm
