2008 & a new moon

Tonight is the new moon!!
Time to write a list of things you would like to manifest in the coming month and year so that they may come to fruition as the lunar sphere grows full again in our night sky.

my sweetie & i had a wonderful holiday exploring the wilderness in Calistoga even though it was raining and cold.

we visited this old wheat mill, that has been restored to its 1845 condition. It is in working order, we got a tour of how the water wheel spins all the gears inside and grinds the wheat. Its like standing inside of a watch. Its so facinating to me how efficient this is, one spin of the water wheel, turns the grinding stone 40 revolutions. In its day, several processes were connected to the wheel, so that while the wheat was being ground, it was also being cleaned and sorted. In 1845, the mill produced 1000 lbs of flour an hour. 1 pound of flour sold for 25cents. So, the woman who owned the mill was making $250/ hour!! back in 1845, when there were only about 450 people in the entire napa valley! The flour is now only produced for tourists and sells for $1.50/ lb. Today i plan on baking banana bread with some of the yummy grind we purchased.

Inside the mill, which is still being renovated, is a plank of wood that had been on the property, for the 50 years that the building was abandoned. The plank says "Rockie & Johnnie were lovers at the Mill".

my sweedee & i made a mini snow person while playing in the mountains above Calistoga.
